You’ve likely had hundreds, if not millions of progress reports, scientific papers, and or even essays to complete. Sometimes, we are expected to do so much in the short time span that we have.

Whether it is a revised deadline or a new emerging personal crisis that is forcing you to hurry up on that paper, here are some tips to get started more efficiently.

1. Get into the Groove

When you start writing, it’s okay to quickly soundboard what you are planning to write in note form or through a quick brainstorm cloud. You can also do a bit of quick exploratory research to see if you can find similar content that is accessible, exhaustive, and credible. If you find a dozen papers surrounding your desired topic, you know you’ve got a treasure trove of references at your disposal.

2. Turn off Your Phone and Social Media

This is easier said than done, but you’re more efficient if you can turn off all visible distractions and have a quiet space where you just focus on writing the darn paper. These days, we have apps that foster productivity and force certain websites to turn off when absolutely needed. Plus, your social media is your reward for all the hard work you end up doing in the end.
